Friends of the Library

Friends of the Alden District Library is a group of persons who are interested in libraries. They work to focus public attention on the library, to stimulate the use of the library and its resources and to support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilities for the community. Friends are dedicated to the freedom to read as expressed in the American Library Association Bill of Rights.

As a non-profit 501(c)(3), Friends has more than 100 dues paying members who also donate generously to our organization. We give thousands of dollars every year to the library for special projects such as Book Buddies for children and enrichment programs for adults. We do special things for the library staff such as cash Christmas gifts with our thanks for excellent patron service. When the operating millage appears on the ballot for the library, Friends support the campaign for approval. All in all, Friends do what they are able to support our “gem” of a library.

Friends meet on the third Thursday of each month
at 10 a.m. at the Helena Township Community Center. Won’t you join us?

Membership applications are available online and at the library — dues are $15 per family annually. Please complete the membership PDF below and drop it off at the library or mail it to: Friends of the Library c/o Alden District Library, 8751 Helena Road, Alden, MI 4961
